armchairs & poufs

The basis of our brand is unique Ukrainian textiles, which was born in the Carpathian mountains. We have chosen to convey its beauty through furniture.

To create these products, we use two types of traditional weaving techniques: smooth weaving and a technique known as "gunia-kotsovanya." Gunia is a type of outerwear that resembles a sheep-fur coat but is not made from sheepskin. The fabric for gunia is also woven, with each strand of wool woven into the base. Such gunia provides protection from wind and rain and has been used for decades. Therefore, it was a great idea to use it for furniture not only for aesthetic reasons but also due to the technical qualities of the material.

The legs and back of the furniture are made from ash wood. The crafting of each armchair remains a completely manual process.

rugs & blankets

A century ago in the Carpathian mountains, a traditional craft of "lizhnykarstvo" was born. "Lizhnyk", or blanket, was one of the most important items in the Hutsul household. It can be used both as a blanket and as a rug, to cover a horse cart, etc.

We want to preserve this сraft. We do not change the production technology. Rugs are woven on manual looms, washed in mountain rivers for 4-7 hours, and dried in the open air. We keep these skills and do not interfere with technology, but at the same time, we try to look at the lizhnyk in a modern way as a modern ecological material.

The raw material for rugs and blankets is 100% wool from sheep that graze on the slopes of the Carpathians. Mostly we use unbleached, undyed wool natural colors.

What is the difference between a rug and a blanket? After all, they are made by the same technology. And you can use it in any of these ways. But what we call a blanket in our store has a thinner canvas, it is lighter and takes more labor-intensive work. But it can also be used as a rug too.

Decorative pillows

Mapico pillows, crafted from wool and woven by hand, like our other products.

The backside of the pillows is made from vintage homespun hemp fabric that was not in use. Cloth scrolls were often given as a dowry and kept in chests. Now we find these fabrics all over Ukraine, to use them for their intended purpose.

We also use Japanese accessories so that our pillows serve for a really long time.
